Our Ministries

The Old Catholic Apostolic Church of the Americas offers all 7 Sacraments. The following is a list of some ministries that are available to you should you desire to take part.

There is never any charge for the sacraments. However, you should know that a donation for the support of the church is greatly appreciated. There is no need for a parishioner to make a donation for the reception of a sacrament, however, someone not belonging to the church will be asked to make a donation. Please discuss this with the Archbishop.

Baptism: We baptize any child whose family wishes to share their faith with their child.  We believe that while the child may be too young to make the decision on his/her own, the parents wish to share their faith with their child is enough to enable the reception of the sacrament. Arrangements can be made by calling the Archbishop. Adults that wish to share our faith by being baptized will be required to take classes to learn about the Catholic Faith.  Successful completions of these classes will result in reception of the sacrament, most likely at the Easter Vigil.

Religious Education: We offer specialized religious education classes to meet the needs of the children attending them. Our first and foremost goal is to teach the love of Christ and the acceptance of all God's children. Our children must complete two successive years in order to receive a sacrament. The child's understanding of the sacrament is the main reason they will be able to proceed.

Reconciliation:  The sacrament of reconciliation is available to any individual that desires to receive it.  You may request individual confession before or after Mass on Saturday evenings. You may also call the Archbishop to make arrangements.
We believe in the beauty of individual Confession and encourage the reception of this sacrament, we also accept the belief of some that you can confess directly to God in your own personal manner.

The reception of Holy Eucharist is always available at Mass. However, should you desire to receive in your own home or in the hospital due to illness or inability to get to Mass, simply call the Archbishop to make special arrangements.

Marriage: The Sacrament of Holy Matrimony is open to all people.  We, at the Cathedral Parish, perform marriages for heterosexual or same sex couples, as long as it is in keeping with the laws of the state. While we believe in the sanctity of marriage, we accept the fact that we are not perfect and subject to human frailties, therefore, we perform marriages for couples where one or both have been in previous unions. If you have any questions please contact the Archbishop.

Anointing of the Sick: If you or someone you love is seriously ill or in the hospital, please call the Archbishop to make arrangements for a visit. The Archbishop would be happy to anoint the individual for a speedy recovery or to bring spiritual peace to those in serious condition.

Funeral:  You should have the Funeral Director contact the Archbishop to request a time for the funeral.  We can often use the Church of the Manger for funeral masses or we can do the mass right at the funeral home. If you prefer to simply have a prayer service for your own personal reasons, you will not be judged and the Archbishop will do whatever he can to assist you in this most difficult time.
